our saturday with science

Saturday, August 20, 2011

this past saturday, ro and i took a trip to philly's museum district to visit the academy of natural sciences. these last few weekends, our priority was getting the apartment in order, so it was nice to finally have a day completely to ourselves. we're also trying to get in as much time together before grad school starts and studying takes over my life. (yikes!)

en route to the train station, we passed by glenside's farmers market! it was too good to pass up, so rob pulled an illegal u-turn in the middle of a busy intersection and we stopped for a quick peek. rob bought some homemade indian teas--absolutely delicious. i can't wait to brew them, especially since i've always been a tea kind of girl. no offense, starbucks.

we stopped by the fountain in logan square before heading into the museum. the weather was so sunny and beautiful--such a change all the thunderstorms we've been having lately! we sat out on the grass for a while, but soon decided it was necessary to put our feet in the water. why put pennies in fountains when you can put your toes?

ro and i saw lots of animal displays, but nothing was as amazing as the butterfly garden. we literally walked through a curtain and were surrounded by tropical butterflies. some of the most beautiful colors i've ever seen! the butterflies seemed to like rob, too...they kept landing on him!

of course, no trip of ours to philly is complete without a stop at reading terminal market. we had dinic's pulled pork for dinner. rob finished his sandwich easily....as well as mine. i don't call him the pit for nothing!

your lack of beard is distracting. it feels unnatural. rob looks cool though.
